The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, it was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by Billy @ the Ramblings of a coffee addict. . Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
I just love this meme and the questions that come up. They generate so much discussion which is so great.
This weeks question is:
Are any of your bookcases buckling under the weight of too many books?
(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer))
Not any more.
At the start of this year, all of our bookshelves were jammed with books. We had books piled on top of each other and double stacked where the shelves were wide enough. We also had books piled up in the corners of the rooms as well lurking in wardrobes.
Then in April, we went to Ikea and bought lots of shiny new bookcases and turned a tiny room in our house into a library. We also had a huge cull of books that we didn’t think that we were going to read again. At the moment, our bookcases are beautifully neat and we still have room for some more books. I’m not sure how long this situation will last though.
What about you. Are your bookshelves buckling under the weight of all those books?
I am gradually cleaning off my bookshelves as I read some and pass them on. I have 5 bookshelves, so none are buckling. I love your shelves and set up. Mine are in 4 different rooms.
So are most of oursđŸ˜€
That must be nice to have a room just for books. I don’t have any room on my bookshelves at all.
Having more space in your house is one of the benefits of your children growing up and leaving home. đŸ˜€
Beautiful bookshelves. Thanks for sharing the story of how they came to being. đŸ™‚
I hate to get rid of books, but I know I won’t re-read. I miss them. đŸ™‚
When I know all the people who I think will want to read my books have read them, I give them to the library sale or the hospital library. I also shared quite a few with my sisters.
Have a lovely weekend.
Some of mine go to the library but mainly they go to the local charity shop that supports the Air Ambulance. I have to be fairly ruthless about getting rid of books that I know I won’t read again. Either that, or I turn my entire house into a library đŸ˜ƒ
Yours look lovely and neat and orderly. Mine are very chaotic, crammed with books and knicknacks, with lights strung all over them. Although less packed than they were, I’ve recently moved house and have space to buy another couple of bookshelves!
They were very chaotic until we bought the new ones. Hopefully these will stay nice for a while.
I love your library and bookshelves! The looks so neat
I’m sure that as we fill up the few spaces, they will become less neatđŸ˜€
Congrats on your new shelves and new library! đŸ˜€ I also have shelves from IKEA. They’re so great–good quality and affordable.

We have these in the UK and my daughter has the exact same ones in Kansas City in the US. IKEA conquers the world đŸ˜€
Your new bookcases look lovely! Ikea has such wonderful things đŸ˜»
Got to love IKEA. Our house is full of it! My bookshelves arent buckling as we have a lot of storage solutions. One day they might. We shall see!
Have a great week!
