Book Blogger Hop March 24

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, it was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by Billy @ the Ramblings of a coffee addict. . Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This weeks question is: Are books a must-have in your home? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

Yes. I absolutely can’t imagine living in a house without books. Even as a child when we weren’t well off, we went to the local library every week so we still had books. Now I can afford to buy my own, they are an essential. My husband is just as bad so we have books everywhere.

I think the Covid pandemic and the resulting lock downs really made it apparent how much I need my own books. If I hadn’t had my book collection to reread, it would have been so much harder to get through that time of being confined to our homes.

I’m lucky enough to live in a house with quite a bit of space (empty nester!!!!) so we have room for book storage. Last year, we cleared out a tiny room and created a book room which I just love.

As well as the bookshelves in here, we also have 4 other bookcases dotted around the house.

I’ve passed this onto my own daughter too who moved to the US last year and spent a fortune shipping her books over to Kansas City.

What about you? Are books a must have in your home?

  1. I definitely have to have books around! When I was moving from apartment to apartment, I kept a relatively small stash but still always had a box or two to lug with me. Now that I own a home, the books are piling up everywhere and I love it!

    1. My children are 37 and 34 so they aren’t coming back here to live 😀 We converted one bedroom to my husband’s office and the tiny room where he used to work is now the book room 😀

  2. I know there are people out there that will answer no to this question, but I don’t know any of them. I can’t imagine my house without books.

  3. Yes, they are essential!!! Love your book room!! ❤ I have my own library now, instead of a dining room. haha. My son has a tall bookshelf in his room full of books… currently working on a bookshelf in the new baby's room. BOOKS EVERYWHERE!! 🙂

  4. I’m obsessed with your book room! 🤩 Having a dedicated library room of my own one day is a huge dream of mine – but right now, I guess every room I have is basically my book room 🤣 A space just doesn’t feel like home unless there are books everywhere!

  5. I honestly don’t know what a life without books would be like. I’ve always had shelves and shelves of books and used the library all the time as a kid too. It’s just too horrible to contemplate not having them around. Although, I did think about downsizing the last time we moved. Packing and moving them all was not fun. Lol. I love your book room!!!

  6. I love this! I feel blessed to live in a house filled with books! And the library was my home away from home when I was little too! I can’t imagine a life without books.
